Project Awesomesocks

I've been working on this for the past several days, and I believe it is the coolest thing I have ever or will ever produce in my lifetime. (Sorry, hypothetical future children, if you're reading this and feel jilted. But you are just not as awesome as this video.) Watch, please; I want it to become so popular on YouTube that the SciFi channel is so overcome by its awesomeness that it has no choice but to hurl huge sacks of money at Joss Whedon and Tim Minear (I'm so much a fan that I know the other guy's name, too!) so that they will write more shows.



EDIT January 11, 12:15 AM: Holy mother of all that is sweet and buttery, somebody dropped the internet on me. Thank you to everyone who commented! This was a ton of fun to make, and I'm so happy that other people enjoy it as much as I do. My dad deserves a lot of thanks for helping me learn the video editing software, and of course none of this would be awesome at all without the extreme talent of everyone involved with both Wicked and Serenifly.

Wonderful video, by the way :) I haven't seen Wicked as of yet, but I've listened to the soundtrack more than a few times.

Sorry to be anonymous....

Just wanted to comment while the video was still playing. Fantastic. Phenomenal. Defying Gravity is entirely appropriate for Firefly/Serenity, and you did an amazing job editing the clips!

Lovely - just lovely. Made me tear up. It's that great phenomenon of one good thing combined with another making something so much... more. Thank you.

I don't love everything about the musical, but this song has a lot going for it, and Serenifly is better than almost anything.

My only quibble it with this: "and I believe it is the coolest thing I have ever or will ever produce in my lifetime." I hope not and I doubt it.

Trust me as amazing as this is (and it IS amazing) you're sure to be doing cooler things in your life (things to tell your future lovely kids "It was the rush...the rush. Joss people!" they'll get it) lol. Thanks for this. It made me teary for Firefly to fly again and to check out Wicked (a great experience for those who had yet to see it!) once more.

Wow. This gave me chills. It's beautiful in so many ways. The song fits Firefly and Serenity perfectly.

You also made me cry thanks to a combination of personal stuff and the brilliance of the video.

I love how you matched both the lyrics and the music to the clips you used. As a vidder, I have to say, it takes a lot of attention to detail to do that effectively. I especially noticed it in the clips where River was fighting the Reavers.

I'm posting a link to this on my LJ because, even though I don't think I have more than one or two people into vidding there, I think every single one of my LJ friends will love this. Plus I think every single person on there who loves Firefly and Serenity (and just Joss's work in general) is also a huge Wicked fan.

Thank you for watching and linking, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Funny you should say that about River and the Reavers, because that's where I had to do the least editing. In fact, as soon as I matched the wall's collapse to "bring me DOOOOOWN!", the cuts of the original footage matched the beats of "So we've got to bring her... dooooown!" perfectly on their own. I think Joss must have had this song playing in the editing room while making the movie.
